Who am I?
I’m a woman, a wife, and a mother who is continuing on the journey of following my values and listening to my inner voice in the pursuit of my dreams. And ignoring the next negative self-critical voice that tells me I can’t.
Why am I here?
I’m here right now to help others discover and live their dreams. To understand and believe they do not have to just get by in life. I’m here to be a sounding board for my children. Helping them uncover who they are and who they want to be. I’m here to support my husband and encourage him to live his dreams.
What do I want?
To take all that I’ve learned through the process of hosting this podcast, counseling and coaching clients, and specifically help entrepreneurs realize their dreams in business and also have the personal lives and relationships they want, but are struggling to have. This is the next part of my journey doing exactly that.
New podcast: Entrepreneurs Unstuck
You can still find it right here, just under a different name. I will have entrepreneurs on the show who are killing it in business, but lack satisfaction in other areas of their lives, such as relationships. I’ll also help entrepreneurs who are stuck because of perfectionism and limiting beliefs, not able to take that next big step or leap so that they can thrive in their business.
We will talk about what has worked for them. I will help them with the areas that are not working for them. We will be exploring what works in business and in life. To go from stuck and stagnant, and dissatisfied to unstuck thriving and running on all cylinders.

Meet Kathryn Ely
I’m Kathryn Ely and at age 50, I’m enjoying my very best life. I spent years as a lawyer and then stay-at-home mom helping others go out into the world and live their best lives. While this was very important to me, I did not realize that I was losing myself in the process. I followed all of the “shoulds” like “women should always care for others” and “taking time for yourself is just selfish”.
As two of my children were getting ready to go out into the world I realized I was lost, without my next purpose, and it was scary. So I went back to school and over the course of several years, I not only found myself, but I designed the formula for women in midlife to achieve their most fulfilling lives. It is my mission to equip as many women as possible with this design and the tools to make this chapter of their lives the best chapter.
Thanks for listening!

Who am I? Why am I here? What do I want? Have you ever asked yourself these three most powerful questions? Now, these aren’t questions I ask myself every day, but when I’m feeling antsy, like there might be a shift going on inside of me. I take the time to not only ask myself these three questions, but to find the answers.
It is so easy in today’s world, especially for a perfectionist to buy into the sunk cost fallacy. Which is believing you should keep doing exactly what you’re doing because you’ve invested too much time and energy and money to shift to something else. Even when what you were doing is not working for you.
This keeps us from making a pivot, even when we know we want to, or know we should. So when I asked myself these three important questions of who am I? Why am I here? What do I want is important that I let go of the sunk cost fallacy and allow myself to explore whether I’ve achieved a higher level of understanding about my purpose in the direction that I want to take it.
That is one of the great things about letting our values be our guide.
When our values are our guides, we never get to the finish line. We never fully achieve our values. We continue to take steps toward them, but we never finished them. I think this is great because it means we always have an opportunity to grow, expand, and level up. I mean, if we ever could be perfect or reach the finish line, when it comes to living our values, where would that leave us?
What else would we have to do in life? I’ve seen a pattern in my clients, whether they suffer from anxiety, perfectionism, or they are simply not satisfied with their lives. Typically one of two things is going on, causing them the most discomfort. Either they are not satisfied in their pursuit or career domain.
Or they are unhappy in their relationships. Other domains matter of course, but it is these two most important areas that give us the most trouble. In the pursuit or career domain, the biggest problems stem from limiting beliefs, shoulds, and negative core beliefs. Each and every one of us has something deep inside of us that we dream of doing, but it gets buried underneath these layers of shoulds, self-doubt and negative self-talk.
Should point us in the direction we think others want us to go with our lives. Like being an accountant, because it is a stable job that pays well and makes our family happy when your true desire is to be a fashion designer. Now it’s fantastic for you to be an accountant if you love accounting, but not if you don’t. The negative core beliefs fuel that awful voice that tells us we aren’t good enough or smart enough to pursue our dreams.
We bury these dreams because our brain tells us it is too scary for us to take action toward this thing that we truly want. The more we want it, the scary it can be to think about it if we are left alone to do it. The other areas of our lives that cause us the most pain and difficulty is our relationships. Our family, intimate love relationship, parenting, and friends domains. Because connectedness and acceptance of others are the most basic of human needs.
When we don’t have these needs met, our lives are a mess. So as I have looked at client after client, while sharing this process of getting them to move from where they are stuck, suppressing their dreams, and not enjoying fulfilling relationships to where they want to be. This is what I’ve seen. As we move from self-doubt and negative core beliefs towards self-love and self-worth, it becomes easier to feel the longing and to hear the voice of the dreams that have so long been covered up. Ultimate satisfaction in life comes from the combination of letting yourself chase your personal dreams while having and enjoying connected deep relationships with others.
Now my inner voice has been coming up lately, noticing a true passion that would not have revealed itself if not for this podcast. I want to help entrepreneurs chase their dreams, have the fulfilling relationships they are missing, and find that ultimate satisfaction in life. The ability to pursue their dream business while finding deep connectedness and relationships.
So when I allow myself to ask and answer these three important questions, this is what I find right now. Who am I? I’m a woman, a wife, and a mother who is continuing on the journey of following my values and listening to my inner voice in the pursuit of my dreams. And ignoring the next negative self-critical voice that tells me I can’t.
Why am I here? I think I’m here right now to help others discover and live their dreams, to understand and believe they do not have to just get by in life. Right now, I’m here to be a sounding board for my children, helping them uncover who they are and who they want to be. I’m here to support my husband and encourage him to live his dreams.
And I’m here to serve my clients, helping them uncover their dreams and actually live them.
What do I want right now? I want to take all that I’ve learned through the process of hosting this podcast, counseling and coaching clients, and specifically help entrepreneurs realize their dreams in business and also have the personal lives and relationships they want, but are struggling to have. This is the next part of my journey doing exactly that.
I hope you will come with me. The new podcast is called Entrepreneurs Unstuck, and you can still find it right here. Just under a different name. I will have entrepreneurs on the show who are killing it in business, but lack satisfaction in other areas of their lives, like their relationships. And entrepreneurs who are stuck because of perfectionism and limiting beliefs, not able to take that next big step or leap so that they can thrive in their business.
We will talk about what has worked for them. And I will help them with the areas that are not working for them. That aren’t where they want them to be. We will be exploring what works in business and in life to go from stuck and stagnant. And dissatisfied to unstuck thriving and running on all cylinders.
So if you’re an entrepreneur who finds herself or himself self stuck, email me at kathryn@imperfectthriving.com. And I will send you an application to be a guest on the show.
