Are you stuck?
Have you ever noticed how being a perfectionist keeps you stuck?
You have thoughts of “I must be able to do xyz before I can get started”. Or I must know more about this before I can do that”.
Then you look up months down the road and something you meant to do by January, you have not done and it is June.
Perfection makes us procrastinate because we always need to learn more, know more, before we begin.
That is a mind trick my friends that keeps us perfectly stuck where we are, not moving toward goals, not satisfied in our lives.
I am about to tell you something that will help free you from perfectionism and actually get moving toward your goals.
Act when 80% ready
Act when you are 80% ready. Do not wait until your brain tells you it is time. Because it will never tell you that you are ready to act. There will always be a reason it is not time. Being 80% ready means you have thought it though enough to go ahead and do it.
We learn by doing anyway. You will never think something into perfection. You get better and better by doing than analyzing the data. Remember the last episode. This 80% rule goes hand in hand with treating life like an experiment.
Let’s start putting the pieces of this puzzle together. So far we have talked about:
- Lowering the bar
- Focussing on the process
- And Now, starting when 80% ready.
If you lower the bar- take away the fear of failure aspect.
Focus on the process, we are further decreasing the fear aspect because the result is not what matters. The doing matters. Now if we only have to be 80% READY INSTEAD OF 100% ready, we are even more free to take action.
You are on your way to a whole new life, with the freedom to try what you have be wanting but unable to try all of these years. How does it feel? Does it feel amazing yet, or are you still a little uneasy, a little unsure???
It’s OK if that is where you are. We have not put all of the pieces of the puzzle together yet.
Get 80% ready. Think it through. Have your plan if you like. Tomorrow is the last day of the workshop and it a a big one. It is an integral piece of this puzzle. So join me back here tomorrow. And remember if you want or need a little extra help with this- it is what I do. Message me on Instagram or Facebook @imperfectthriving or email be at email@example.com

Meet Kathryn Ely
I’m Kathryn Ely and at age 50, I’m enjoying my very best life. I spent years as a lawyer and then stay-at-home mom helping others go out into the world and live their best lives. While this was very important to me, I did not realize that I was losing myself in the process. I followed all of the “shoulds” like “women should always care for others” and “taking time for yourself is just selfish”.
As two of my children were getting ready to go out into the world I realized I was lost, without my next purpose, and it was scary. So I went back to school and over the course of several years, I not only found myself, but I designed the formula for women in midlife to achieve their most fulfilling lives. It is my mission to equip as many women as possible with this design and the tools to make this chapter of their lives the best chapter.
Thanks for listening!
